Black Hat SEO
Black hat search engine optimisation usually deals with the approach of tricking the search engines. Quite often Black Hat SEO techniques have been termed unethical, dishonest and plain illegal, usually by White Hat SEO consultants.
Its fair to say that a lot of the techniques Black Hat SEO consultants were deemed to be quite legal back in the early days. However the amount of websites that have employed these methods using them to such a large extent, that these techniques are now classed as spam. Websites found to be using these methods risk penalisation or being banned from the particular search engine in question.
Black Hat Basic Techniques
Keyword Stuffing – This technique means literally `high jacking` your page and stuffing long lists of keywords on it.
Invisible Text – Placing hidden text on your pages (white text on white background etc) stuffed with keywords; the text is only visible to the search engine and not the reader.
Doorway Pages (Spamdexing)– These are very small (usually) html pages that have been designed for search engine spiders, they are created around specific keywords and are invisible to the user.
The techniques of Black Hat search engine optimisation work and can produce immediate results, however they usually don’t last that long and can produce a serious problem to the website that has used these techniques such as getting banned from their SERP`s.
