The PageRank term comes from a patented algorithm invented by the founders of Google.
The PageRank algorithm uses numerical calculations based on certain practices to determine the weight or relevance of a certain page.
The PageRank algorithm has been the debate of many for a long time and although Google has added to its algorithm with more than another 100 factors the PageRank system still plays an important role in the determination of quality of a web page for search terms.
Google PageRank formulae:
PR(A) = (1-d) + d (PR(T1)/C(T1) + ... + PR(Tn)/C(Tn))
